Chevrolet Cavalier

Предшественником Chevrolet Cavalier была модель Chevrolet Monza, которая выпускалась в период с 1975 по 1980 гг. Chevrolet Monza выпускался в трёх версиях кузова: 2-дверное купе, 3-дверный хэтчбек и 3-дверный универсал. Что касается трансмиссии, то здесь также было предложено три варианта: 4-ступенчатая и 5-ступенчатая механические коробки передач, и 3-ступенчатая автоматическая.

В 1988 году было выпущено второе поколение Chevrolet Cavalier. В этом году автомобиль получил свои первые изменения во внешности, хотя размеры и формы остались прежними, за исключением немного изменённых кузовных панелей (была убрана прежняя угловатость). Однако, небольшие внешние изменения не могли убрать основные недостатки автомобиля, а именно: непривлекательность, низкие показатели мощности (за исключением версии Z24) и значительное отставание в качестве от японских конкурентов. Из прежних двигателей остался только V6 объёмом 2.8 литра, но появилось и два новых силовых агрегата: список стал возглавлять двигатель V6 объёмом 3.1 литра; а самым меньшим по объёму стал L4 объёмом 2.2 литра. Вариантов трансмиссии осталось два: 5-ступенчатая «механика» и 3-ступенчатый «автомат».

Но с приходом нового поколения в 1995 году, многие недостатки автомобиля были исправлены. Автомобиль получил более обтекаемый кузов. Не смотря на критику со стороны автомобильной прессы, продажи автомобиля Chevrolet Cavalier возросли, но автомобиль всё ещё оставался самым слабым конкурентом для продуктов японского автопрома. Третье поколение имело в обращении всего три кузова: 2-дверный кабриолет, 2-дверное купе и 4-дверный седан. Список силовых агрегатов составляли только 4-цилиндровые двигатели объёмами 2.2, 2.3 и 2.4 литра. В списке коробок передач в отличие от прежнего поколения появился 4-ступенчатый «автомат». Отметим, что продажи Chevrolet Cavalier на азиатских рынках производились под маркой Toyota, с которой General Motors заключил соглашения. Единственным отличием служил только правый руль. Их сборка полностью осуществлялась в США.

Для 1995 года стоит отметить обновление, ставшей самой элегантной и довольно хорошо оснащённой версии – спорт-купе Chevrolet Cavalier Z24. Её производство осуществлялось до 2003 года.

В базовый комплект Z24 образца 2000-х годов входили такие опции, как противоугонная охранная сигнализация, ABS, эффектное освещение салона, специальное защитное покрытие сидений Scotchguard, электропривод дверных замков, алюминиевые колеса с имитирующим шнуровку дизайном. Спектр устанавливаемых двигателей был дополнен 2,4-литровым мотором L4 SFI с двумя распределительными валами, развивающими 152л.с..

В 2003 году Chevrolet Cavalier претерпевает очередные изменения. Они коснулись только внешности автомобиля: фары, бампера, радиаторная решётка – что придало более динамичный облик автомобилю. В целом общая концепция дизайна экстерьера существенно не изменилась.

В 2005 году Chevrolet Cavalier был снят с производства, а на смену ему пришёл Chevrolet Cobalt.

Недорогой седан Chevrolet Cavalier возрожден в Китае

Chevrolet Cavalier блистал на автомобильной сцене в восьмидесятых и девяностых годах — так назывались недорогие среднеразмерные модели преимущественно для американского рынка. Помнят их и в России: двадцать лет назад партия этих седанов была закуплена для службы в московской милиции. В 2005-м Cavalier отправили на пенсию, но теперь корпорация General Motors возрождает подзабытое название, причем не в Америке, а в Китае.

Новый седан справит премьеру в начале сентября на автосалоне в Ченгду, но вся информация о машине уже известна. В китайской гамме Chevrolet новый Cavalier займет то же место, что и скромный Chevrolet Cobalt в Латинской Америке или прежде в России: это вместительный седан с простыми агрегатами, небогатым оснащением и привлекательной ценой. В последние пару лет такую нишу на китайском рынке занимал «первый» Chevrolet Cruze, продававшийся параллельно с более дорогой и статусной моделью второго поколения.

По размерам Cavalier чуть компактнее того самого Круза и почти идентичен Кобальту: 4544 мм в длину, 1779 мм в ширину и 1467 мм в высоту, а колесная база — 2600 мм. Но китайский автомобиль все же гораздо симпатичнее их обоих: внешность оформлена в стиле современных моделей марки. Базовые колеса со скромным посадочным диаметром 15 дюймов, за доплату — 16-дюймовые.

Китайский седан построен на простых и проверенных агрегатах. Платформа — с полузависимой задней подвеской, под капотом — атмосферник 1.5 (109 л.с.), который сочетается с пятиступенчатой «механикой» или шестиступенчатым «автоматом».

Интерьер простой, но симпатичный, да еще двухцветный. Среди опций есть система стабилизации, «кожаная» отделка сидений и мультимедиасистема MyLink с семидюймовым тачскрином. Однако модельная субординация соблюдена строго: климат-контроль у Кавалера не предусмотрен — только обычный кондиционер.

Продажи в Поднебесной начнутся уже в ближайшее время, но перспективы появления седана на других рынках пока неясны. Хотя было бы неплохо увидеть эту модель в России под брендом Ravon. Кстати, названию Cavalier в этом году исполнится уже 35 лет, а за все время выпустили более пяти миллионов машин трех поколений.

Первый Chevrolet Cavalier представили в 1981 году, он пришел на смену модели Monza. Технически это был ближайший родственник европейского семейства Opel Ascona, но по американским меркам переднеприводный седан длиной 4,4 м считался компактным и дешевым. Помимо него в гамму входили универсал, трехдверный хэтчбек, купе и кабриолет. Поначалу машины оснащались только нижневальными «четверками» объемом 1,8—2,0 л, но в 1985 году появилась версия с мотором V6 2.8. Кроме США такие Кавалеры выпускали еще и в Мексике

Chevrolet Cavalier второго поколения появился в 1988-м и представлял собой плод модернизации прежней версии. Трехдверка покинула модельный ряд, а купе обзавелось новым кузовом с более стремительным силуэтом. Расширен список опций, добавились «спортивные» комплектации, а гамма моторов включала бензиновые «четверки» и «шестерки» объемом 2,0—3,1 л

Полностью новый Chevrolet Cavalier третьего поколения оказался долгожителем: модель выпускали с 1994 по 2005 год. Именно эти машины закупали для московской милиции. Длина базового седана выросла до 4,6 м, а помимо него в гамму входили купе и кабриолет. От моторов V6 отказались: Кавалеры оснащали только четырехцилиндровыми двигателями объемом 2,2—2,4 л. А с 1996 по 2000 год праворульные версии поставлялись в Японию и продавались там под названием Toyota Cavalier. В США последователем модели стал Chevrolet Cobalt

It Was The Cornerstone Of My Passion For Driving. —

“Robert” was a 1988 Cavalier wagon that my family acquired when I was 3 years old. According to my parents, I gave him that name myself. It figures then that I have always felt a strong connection to this car. We were born in the same year, and we grew up together. Robert was a part of many of the formative experiences of my life. My family drove Robert across the country from East to West when we moved to Oregon from Virginia, and I experienced my first foray into a foreign country (Canada) from his back seat. When I got my driver’s license at 19, I finally had the chance to drive the car that had meant so much to me during my childhood. By then, Robert was beginning to show his age. But I saw him through rose-colored glasses. Instead of being frustrated by the slow response of the pedals, I loved how it made the car accelerate and brake so smoothly. You just couldn’t rush the car to do anything, which made for a laid-back driving experience. The steering was loose and off-center, but I appreciated how light the wheel felt in my hands. Robert soon became a symbol of my independence. My parents let me drive him wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted, as long as I told them where I was going. Driving Robert to work during the first summer after college only strengthened our bond. Every moment we spent together taught me new lessons in car control. I found the limits of his lateral grip and braking force (which didn’t take much effort to reach). I practiced braking so smoothly that I couldn’t feel the car rock back as I came to a halt. I learned to parallel park and back into parking spaces—Robert was the perfect car for this because of his big square windows and thin pillars. When he finally died of a clogged exhaust system last year, I was sad to see him go. But he left me with a valuable gift—a passion for driving that has stuck with me my whole life.

🙂 — i think my car is a great car. Its cheap on gas, but yet has a little power under the hood. very fast at pull outs, and can hold very easy in the road, handles very well.. not to heavy. pretty with a good paint job.. put some nice rims on her and shes a queen.

Primary Use: Family transportation

Old Skool Cavys Are Fab! — I love this car so much i dont think i will ever let it stop running! i bought the car for $300 with holes in the floor because it had been jumped, an engine that was about dont (271,000 miles on it!) and the automatic tranny was totaled! Then i replaced the engine with a 2.8L v6 and a 5 speed transmission but I wanted more power so we dropped a 3.1L v6 in it hypertech chip, msd ignition, and accel wires and the torque in unreal! this car looks like a serious piece of work (or crap) to a lot of ppl lol but i wouldnt trade it for anything!! I love this car!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: It is unique fast and sexy!! lol

Cons: only reason to avoid this car is if u get in my way!

My Small Bowtie — aerodynamics of a brick,and that pretty blue 4 door. Wait what? it got around 30mpg. and could smoke any escort in town(except for that one GT i seen) i had only one problem with it and it costed me only about 25 dollars to fix it. I drove the heck out of itand sold it to a new teacher at the school that i graduated from. She drove it until she got a brand new car and never had a problem with this car.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: little mechanical issues, gas milage

Cons: power? acceleration? aerodynamics?

’88 Chevy Cavalier — The acceleration was really good in this car, when you asked it preformed. Brakes worked beautifully, stopped on a dime. It needed a lot of body work when i bought it. Parts are cheap for this year and model. Gas Milage was decent for a V6 engine. Car was a lot of fun to drive.

Pros: Lots of horse power and torque go went you wanted it.

Cons: unless maintenanced properly things wear and tear easily

What Do U Want To Know. — This car is ugly, I got a steal on it with a bad engine, the guy gave me the replacement engine and a tranny for it even though the old tranny was fine, put it in and beat the snot outta the car with no worries if it goes to heck im not out anything.

Pros: Is a fast 5 speed for a 21 year old car

Cons: rustry underside but who cares

My Daily Driver — this car has been thru so much, it’s been stolen and driven around withot coolant, writen off twice, and with over 300,000 KM on the clock it still puts up with my hard driving on a daily basis

Pros: cheap on gas, I like the looks of it, and parts are really cheap

Cons: lol, they don’t get alot of respect

Wicked Little Car. — Best car i ever had if i wasn’t starting to rust. Would have loved to keep it.

Pros: V6 standard a little more power to play with at least lol

Buy It If You Don’t Plan To Beat The Crap Outta It It Won’t Last If You Choose To —

the 2.8L V6 is a very sound motor very few flaws in its design, the 3T40 automatic transmisson was ok for its day but doesn’t stand the test of time very good not a huge fan of them it slips when under hard acceleration, the brakes are great for stock when you wanna stop it stops just fine this car handles exceptionally good for what it is under hard acceleration through a turn the back end does want to pass you so gotta be careful. The build quality well as for any low line car it is what it is its got a few rust spots but hey its 23 years old never really had a major problem with it running wise overheating and blowing fuses thats about the only problems I have had but thats all normal due to the age of the car and the fuse blew out b/c I shorted a wire to ground so its not an electrical problem oh also the A/C compressor is shot but it was bad when i got the car R-12 compressors never were the best on those cars, has the typical 80’s 2 door coupe squeaks and rattles doors sag over time there heavy plus gravity wears stuff out. The appearance is moded wanted it to stand out so I did a bit of restyling needs the grill redone again so the headlights don’t stick out the it should look sweet, the interior is very plain kinda 80’s to say the least it has a few upgrades like a grant racing wheel and a JVC head unit with a 460 watt Dual amp and two 12 inch Rockford Fosgate subs. Cost of ownership well due to a few speeding tickets its kinda pricey I’m paying 430 bucks for insurance every 6 months gas milage makes around 18 city and about 25 highway, so far the cars been very cheap to own and parts aren’t that expensive. This cars a great car if you want something that looks sleek and gets up and goes when you need it to its not a race car by any means, the weak automatic transmission won’t hold up very long and it governs out at 110 MPH and its just not built to be raced, I suggest a manual transmission in this car if your looking for something similar
